This 1:16th scale diorama depicts a British army rifleman and "batton gunner" armed with the L1A1 7.62 Self Loading Rifle with wooden stock and rifle butt , dealing with unrest during "The troubles" in Northern Ireland in the late 1970's. "Operation Banner" as it was named, stands as the army's longest operational deployment of British troops in its history.

The british army were present in Northern Ireland during "Operation Banner" from 1969 untl 2007 and still remains the longest deployment for british troops to date.

The deployment was to combat the rise of terrorism and civil unrest between both the catholic and protestant population. Troops were deployed from 1969 until 2007 following "The good Friday agreement" signed in 1998.

The kit consists of figures and wall from "Mitches Military Models" displayed kneeling beside a scratch built barbed wire obstacle.

Airbrushed and hand painted using Valejo and Tamiya paints.
